"topos" (plural: "topoi") is a Greek word and means "place". It's a concept often used by Aristotle and Cicero and today usually mentioned when talking about literature. A certain "topos"stands for a special subject, for a fixed phrase, a traditional motive or a stereotyped idea.

represented by different "topoi":
